Center for Social Change has grown from a community-based vision into a broad network of person-centered supports across Maryland.
Since 1993
CSC began by supporting people moving from institutional settings into community life. The organization helped individuals establish homes, routines, relationships and greater personal choice.
Over the years, CSC expanded its services to more individuals with challenging behaviors, people who are medically fragile and people with autism in many counties of Maryland.
Growth with purpose
As needs changed, CSC broadened its work to include residential, vocational, supported employment, day, autism, assisted-living, volunteer and advocacy services. Growth has always carried the same responsibility: to keep the individual—not the program—at the center of planning.
The work continues
Our history is grounded in a simple conviction: every person should have opportunities to live in a safe home, participate in the community, make meaningful choices and be valued for who they are.
The next chapter continues that commitment through responsive services, responsible stewardship, strong community relationships and a willingness to keep learning from the people and families CSC serves.

“CSC’s history is a story of helping people move from institutions into community life.”
